About Sadananda
Sadananda has always been a musician. As a small child in Denver, he composed and sang his own cowboy songs. Next, Swallow Hill Folklore Center opened a world of folk music to him, and he became a talented singer-songwriter.
Sadananda discovered kirtan when he attended the first session of Naropa Institute in 1974. He then spent seven years on pilgrimage on India, where he learned to play the dotar and sat at the feet of the great kirtan masters and street musicians of Maharashtra.
Through his daily immersion in Indian spirituality at Alandi Ashram for the last thirty years he brings a unique devotional authenticity to the practice of kirtan.
